Still Love But Not a Panacea
Reviewed this product over 9 months ago and this is still the ONLY relaxer I will ever use. However, I have had more breakage over the past 6 months, but mostly due to my own neglect. Let's face it, relaxed hair is still very vulnerable and we have to take extraordinary care of it -- like wrapping it up or something at night which I rarely do. I am so grateful that this product allows my hair to still curl up at the ends so that I can wear naturally curly styles. For me, hair that was bone straightened also inevitably meant damage. So, I like to keep a lot of my curl pattern and this product let's me do that.
ProsDoes not over-straighten hair.
ConsCost. And I buy a new tub every 6 months because I found that it loses potency. That happened to me twice so I'm pretty sure about it.

Best perm ever
I have been using this products for a little over 2 years now an it has totally changed my hair for the better. I do not like my hair bone-straight. I like to keep some of the curl pattern so that I can just "wash-n-go" sometimes. For years people overstraightened my hair with regular strength no-lye perms. I experienced horrible chipping and breaking, and of course had to get it cut all the time, so I could never gain much length. Two beauticians convinced me to return to a lye-based product and I read the reviews about Mizani. I decided to go with mild because I over the years I have learned that for me super-straight also means super-damaged. With this product my hair has become thicker and longer, and being able to just wash and wear means that I'm manipulating it less. I can put my hair in twists and it will naturally curl up at the ends. BTW, I don't believe in the hair-type system ("3a, 3b, 4a, etc.") because I see people with so many different types of hair claiming the same type. Plus, I think the system is not defined enough black hair which includes a incredibly diverse range of hair types (even on one head.) But FYI my hair is not kinky and definitely not straight. Even with regular perms I could go 6-9 months in between. My hair straightens easily with heat, and even water, but I can definitely wear a beautiful big afro (and did when I was young). My hair frizzes easily and is very very very "big" when natural. That's one reason I use a relaxer. Of course I could flat iron or something but I do hot yoga several times per week which leaves it dripping wet. Given the choice between my body and my hair -- I chose my body. Plus, I like the option to wear my hair kind of curly, frizzy, natural-looking. In sum, I love this product. It allows me to wear a sleek straight or more natural look, and my hair is so much healthier now.
ProsHealthy hair that is not over-processed and not dried out.
ConsExpensive.

Gentle on hair
I think the mild formula relaxer is effective even for the person with thicker hair that uses hair color. I have been using the product for over a year now and haven't used anything else since. Straightens hair yet keeps its body. Works better for me when used with the microfusion penetrating conditioning treatment.
ProsLuxurious Effective Gentle Almost fool-proof

smooth results with no mess
I love this product and have been using it now for two years. It applies quickly and I don't usually leave it on any longer than 10 minutes. The results for my hair are quite impressive. I also use the conditioner and the accompanying shampoo. This relaxer is not messy, does not smell and is quick. It does not burn my scalp either. I use the mildest fine/colored hair formula even when my hair is thick and curly, so it does not leave a stiff, straight look in my hairdo. hair even when my hair

do you need an activator with this product
1 Answers
No, but you'll need to use dual action neutralization after relaxer. It begins with the PerpHecting Creme Normalizing Conditioner applied immediately after rinsing out the Butter Blend Rhelaxer. Fortified with shea butter and honey, the conditioner works as a stabilizer to restore optimal pH balance to the hair as it strengthens and repairs weakened hair bonds with ceramides and detangles to minimize breakage from combing and styling. The next step in dual neutralization is the application of the Balance Hair Bath Neutralizing and Chelating Shampoo - designed to complete the restoration process.

My experience with henna was that it coated the hair shaft not allowing other conditioners and moisturizers to get in. Made my hair very dry. With any relaxer we must pay super close attention to moisturizing/conditioning.

how is this different from the reg mizani relaxer.i noticed since my hairdresser been using the reg mizani.i have scalp irritation, and recently she was mixing the reg perm with a conditioner to texturize my hair.my hair did thicken up,the on the outer parts of the hair go really tangly after months of this process, the she did my relaxer and pull it to the ends,to straighten, now im having breakage, long strands and a lot of short strands dont know what to do,

The Mizani butter blend has cocoa butter, shea butter with in the relaxer. And is supposed help the hair maintain moisture as well as condition during the relaxing process. I have been using this relaxer for about 4-5 years now and can definitely tell that is much more gentle on my strands. Clearly It's sounds like your tangled and braking ends are damaged. Heat can also cause this type of damage. Using a conditioner to protect the ends of pre relaxed hair is a good practice. Split ends and damaged cuticles of the hair shaft can cause hair to tangle and matt together, and eventually start to break Consider doing a few good deep protein treatments to see if this helps. If it does not, it might be a good idea to trim those ends. don't forget to deep condition weekly when you have a relaxer. A perfect balance of protein ,deep moisture and oil like shea butter, coconut oil, grape seed oil to seal in the moisture are essential and is the key to maintaining healthy relaxed hair I have been through the same problem with other relaxers. So good luck on maintaining your healthy strands. :o)
